Job description?

As Area Manager you will have the overall responsibility, and provide strategic leadership and direction, for the Extrusion Department and its team (80 FTE's) in line with the overall strategy of the company. To this end, you will work in close collaboration with the Site Director.

You will ensure that the set objectives regarding quality, sustainability, productivity, safety, efficiency and cost are realized.

  • You manage, coach and develop your employees to make the best use of their competencies, skills and know-how, by doing so you take your team to the next level
  • You will analyze all operational flows & procedures that will allow you to set up, secure and further develop an optimal operations strategy increasing quality, cost savings and efficiency.
  • You develop an operational excellence culture including coaching and leading continuous improvement projects throughout the plant. For this, you will work closely with your team and other departments (e.g. Safety, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, etc.).
  • Together with R&D and Quality you will ensure compliance to industry/ client regulations and laws. Furthermore, you will establish a solid interaction regarding new product & innovation introductions.
  • You will support the planning team to ensure efficient utilization of the operational assets to deliver the required production volume determined by the S&OP team.
  • You develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internal (Quality, Engineering, Sales, Maintenance, other Area Managers, Finance, Unions, etc.) and external (Customers, Suppliers, etc.).
  • You will have 7 direct reports (2 Production Managers, 2 Trainers and 3 Process Engineers), +/- 80 indirect reports and will be part of the Leadership Team.



  • You have a Master/Bachelor Degree and combine this with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience within a similar role and related industry.
  • You have a strategic mindset with the ability to think critically, anticipate changes & new product innovations, and support your stakeholders towards the best operational solutions.
  • You have solid analytical skills and the ability to leverage data to drive insights, identify trends, and make data-driven operational decisions.
  • You have strong organizational skills, work with a problem-solving mindset, and have proven strong decision-making capabilities.
  • You are an excellent relationship builder with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a high level of empathy.
  • Outstanding leadership and people management skillset with the ability to motivate and further develop teams.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workload, and respond to changing business demands.
  • You are enthusiastic, hands-on, energetic and result driven with a service-oriented mindset.
  • You are fluent in English and Dutch.
