We are looking for a Maintenance & Automation Engineering Manager for our new site located in Modena producing carbon fiber materials.

The SMC manufacturing site is classified as a medium to high chemical operation risk, because of the use of hazardous materials and direct environment of the site. Keeping the automated equipment in a safe and well-maintained condition, is essential for continuation of the business, conformity with the law and reputation of MCAM. In accordance with our safety, health and environmental policies, the maintenance strategy takes a pro-active approach.

In this role the Maintenance & Automation Engineering Manager is responsible for the execution of this strategy. He/She secures the availability and compliance of the production equipment, utilities, the automatic control systems and general conditions of the assets on site through monitoring, preventive action and on-time regulatory inspections. In the unforeseen occasion of breakdowns of mechanical and/or electrical equipment, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for safe and quick repair with the support of internal and external maintenance resources, in order to resume the production at the earliest possible notice.

In collaboration with the Site Management Team, as well as with internal and external Engineering resources, the Maintenance and Automation Engineering Manager contributes to continuous improvement and state of the art manufacturing principals in the execution of regular Maintenance, Capital Expense, and Energy Saving Projects.

Main tasks & accountabilities:

  • Contribute to maintain Safety and KAITEKI in the technical areas
  • Creation of monthly maintenance reports (KPI based)
  • Securing availability and conformity of the machine park (mechanical integrity)
  • Implementation of maintenance management system and planning and coordinating the sub-contractors during maintenance and construction work
  • Execution of preventive maintenance and recurring inspections
  • Technical support in capital investment projects
  • Documentation of maintenance protocols and equipment data
  • Participation in internal and external audits
  • Internal training of production staff
  • Contribution in Capital Expense Projects as Project Manager or Team Member

  Main requirements for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical / Automation Engineer
  • At least 5 years proven record of experience in the chemical industry (petrochemicals, monomer or polymer manufacturing)
  • High level of discipline to work safely and accurately
  • Profound knowledge of process control (DCS) systems such as Simatic Manager, S7 Programming (CFC / SFC), WinCC
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation (Endress+Hauser; PILZ; etc.) and drive technology (for example Danfoss)
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable EU directives and norms, such as 2014/34/EU; 2014/30/EU; EN60204-1 (2019/6); EN61439-1/2; EN 60079-14 (2021/5); 2006/42/EU, etc.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical engineering
  • Adequate knowledge of the EU and Italian legislation and directives for safety in the producing industry (e.g. 2006/42/EU; 2014/34/EU) and experience with notified bodies
  • Good communication and people management skills
  • Native speaker or fluent in Italian and proficient English
  • Experience MS Office user
